Kitchen Design Showcase - Modern Kitchen by Nouvelle Designer Kitchens

Brian Patterson from Nouvelle Designer Kitchens created this modern and functional kitchen for three generations of family to enjoy. The owners of this stunning space had recently retired and were looking forward to seeing their dream kitchen come to life. Having children and grandchildren, they wanted to rejuvenate the kitchen to make it as spacious and family-friendly as possible, without compromising their desire for sleek and sophisticated design. The owner’s demands to produce a roomy, elegant and practical family-friendly kitchen were totally satisfied.

Designed for ease of movement between the kitchen and family room, the space is open-plan. The kitchen has the perfect-size working area for all those family dinners, as well as ample seating space and a breakfast bar for the grandkids. To ease bending and lifting, easy storage for pots, pans and crockery was created and all large appliances were placed at bench level.

The stunning island houses a pull-out bin system, underslung sink, dishwasher, tea towel cabinet and first class, clear benchtop. The pantry was specifically placed on the far wall flanked by the tall, glass display cabinet. Dual finishes were selected for the doors and panels and Abet Laminati and polyurethane were chosen to deliver a sophisticated texture. The light CaesarStone benchtops, paired with charcoal glass splashback and stainless-steel handles and appliances, add a distinguished contrast.

To overcome lighting problems, a skylight was installed as well as clever usage of halogen lights to create the perfect ambiance. This kitchen truly is a space that all generations of the family will enjoy.
The kitchen was designed and built by Brian Patterson of

Become A Kitchen Star With Electrolux

Kitchen Stars

Electrolux has been up and running for 90 years now and they want to celebrate that by making a book and online gallery with pictures and kitchen stars moment from 90 people all around the world. A photographer will travel around Europe and the rest of the world to take pictures of (yours, I hope!) kitchens. The point of this book is for Electrolux to give something back to their customers and to document and show the world how a kitchen looks at the year of 2008. Here is your chance to make sure your country gets represented in the book!

Hey come on now, you’re only 3 steps away from being a Kitchen Star:

Look around at home (not just the kitchen) if you have something (toaster, fridge, oven, whatever) from Electrolux.

Take a picture of yourself in your kitchen and send it along with a “kitchen star-moment”, just need to put down a few lines about your favorite moment in a kitchen.

As a thank for your contribution to the project you will receive a ErgoRapido vacuum cleaner

Every person in the world can be a Kitchen Star, even you! So if you think that you, or anyone that you might know is suited to become a Kitchen Star, don’t hesitate to sign up!

Example of a lovely kitchen star moment.

Emma Lundgren, Sweden

”My kitchen star moment took place many years ago – in Dublin actually. I had invited a date over for dinner for the first time and I was really nervous. I had big plans for this dinner, had planned the menu for days and selected wine carefully.

Of course, there was an emergency at work the same day so I didn’t finish until late. To be able to make it on time I had to run home without buying food or wine – I was left with whatever I had in the fridge! I ended up serving spaghetti with some weird sauce and water to drink.

It was horrible at first but we ended up laughing at it eventually. Later, he told me that he fell in love with me that night – so now I consider that a Kitchen Star moment!”

Blum Launches Servo-Drive - An Electric Drive That Opens Kitchen Drawers And Pullouts

Blum launches SERVO-DRIVE - Sydney, Australia – July 2008

1 July 2008 - Blum invited over 500 guests to witness the official launch of SERVO-DRIVE, the electric drive that opens drawers and pull-outs.
The event was held at the picturesque Doltone House-Pyrmont,Sydney. During the evening customers, guests, industry associations and media were given an invaluable insight to the BLUM FORMULA, Research and Development = Perfecting Motion.

During the evening we presented to our customers information on the kitchen observations we do around the world, including Australia. The objective of the kitchen observation is to place ourselves in the consumer’s home and study how they use the kitchen and surrounding area. This provides us valuable insight to the end user of our product, the consumer. With this research we continue to develop and refine our products, and it supports us as we continually strive to implement our Global Customer Benefits philosophy. That is, that anyone that uses Blum product be it manufacturer, installer, retailer or consumer will enjoy a positive experience when using Blum product.

Also shown on the night were two concept products, intivo TANDEMBOX drawer system and AVENTOS lift system featuring SERVO-DRIVE. This part of the demonstration reinforced Blum’s ongoing product development and focus on, Perfecting Motion.

Our presentation concluded with a live demonstration of our research tool, the AGE EXPLORER suit. The AGE EXPLORER is a simulation suit for movement restrictions. It has been developed by the Meyer-Hentschel Institute (Germany) together with doctors and geriatric researchers.

Once again our focus here is to support the end consumer when making such a serious investment in their home, a new kitchen. Once you have decided on a kitchen, it is very difficult to change it later on. The requirements of kitchen users can change over 20 years of kitchen use. The reasons for this are that the body ages, moving becomes more difficult. Accidents can happen, back or knee problems or illnesses such as arthritis can occur. A pregnancy or having a child on the arm while cooking or preparing can make the handling of kitchen more difficult …..

By providing a “ taste “ of 20 years from now to kitchen designers and consumers we can support the decision making process and highlight why drawers and pull-outs improve ergonomics and access, rather than a door where bending and lifting could increasingly become more difficult.

We then invited our guests to join us in the North Pier room of Jones Bay wharf for the official reveal of SERVO-DRIVE featuring our concept drawer systems intivo TANDEMBOX.
