Austrian hardware manufacturer Blum, supplies the Austria-House in Whistler Canada with innovative hardware solutions which offer the highest comfort.

The “Austria-House” follows a 25 year old tradition at the Olympic Games, representing a meeting point for the business, media and sports communities. In addition, at the 2010 Vancouver, Canada Olympic Winter Games, there is an Austria-House in Whistler where the majority of the sports events take place. These Winter Games are also called the “Green Games” which not only refer to the highest performances in winter sports, but also to make a large international public awareness statement regarding our environment.

What’s new at these 2010 Winter Olympics is the way the Austria-House is built using the most modern technology of “Passive-House” construction from various Austrian companies. The entrance hall features a speaker’s desk, a wall-hanging base cabinet with, above it a showcase cabinet consisting of a glass front which will be used for the athlete’s medals. Highly functional hardware such as TANDEMBOX intivo which is the runner system used in the base cabinet and AVENTOS with SERVO-DRIVE which is the electrical front opening solution, are products from Blum. The Austria-House will also be used during the Para-Olympic Games which will follow and then will be handed over to the community of Whistler for use by the public.

Blum will grace the halls of The Sydney Exhibition Centre with an innovative display filled with the latest functional kitchen hardware technology at designEX on the 22nd – 24th April, 2010.
It will be Blum’s fourth consecutive year exhibiting at the prestigious design and architecture event with Blum National Sales and Marketing Manager, David Noakes commenting, “The exhibition provides the perfect platform for us to showcase both current and future products and reach a very important market segment for our business, the Interior Designers and Architects of Australia”.
Blum will be providing a sneak preview of their much anticipated new look TANDEMBOX intivo which offers new versatile design and differentiation opportunities for pull-outs. TANDEMBOX intivo creates a timelessly simple and uniform appearance when used in combination with BOXCAP, a matched add-on element for the drawer side. Alternatively, creative accents can be achieved by using BOXCOVER, in combination with almost any material.
Blum is an industry leader in kitchen cabinet hardware although; their products can be applied to other areas in the home. “Whilst we are heavily focussed on kitchens, we recognise the importance of other living spaces so we will highlight how Blum can be used right across the domestic or commercial fit out with feature displays including home entertainment and bathrooms to name just two”, says David Noakes.
Qualified design professionals have been visiting designEX for over twenty-two years to be inspired, look for new products and keep up to date with industry trends. Director of Rina Cohen Interiors, Rina Cohen visited Blum’s 2009 stand and said, “The staff on the stand were very friendly and eager to explain. (Blum produce) a quality product and there was plenty of trade literature available. The overall experience was interactive, quality and very worthwhile”.
