Sleek kitchen design finishes first

Posted by Kitchen Design

A New Zealand kitchen designer, Shane George CKD NZ, has won the coveted Kitchen Design of the Year Award 2006 which was presented by New Zealand's National Kitchen and Bathroom Association. (Yep I know it's 2007 but we are talking about NZ...)

The budget for the kitchen was $100,000 and materials used in this kitchen ranged from reconstituted timber veneer, translucent reflective colour backed glass for cabinets and panels to the kitchen island, Corian 'Rice Paper' bench tops, Blum kitchen cabinet hardware (soft close mechanisms) and Gaggenau kitchen appliances.

Shane's design took advantage of the property’s elevated, hillside position and sweeping outlook. Flanked on two sides by floor to ceiling glass, the kitchen and dining area gives the sensation of floating in open air and the natural light that floods in is further enhanced by the light oak flooring which has a soft glow to it.

  1. Looks nice, but I guess it’s not too difficult to make a beautiful kitchen when you’ve got a $100,000 budget! :)
