Blum’s Design In Motion – A Weekend Of Discovery

Over two hundred kitchen industry professionals travelled from around Australia to discover Blum’s revolutionary products with special guests and award winning entertainment at Blum’s Design in Motion weekend held in Sydney on 20th August – 22nd August, 2010.

Design in Motion commenced with the official launch of TANDEMBOX intivo, SERVO-DRIVE for AVENTOS and CLIP top BLUMOTION at the Art Gallery of New South Wales. Blum International Product Manager, Michael Mandlburger and Blum Sales Manager responsible for Australia and New Zealand, Christian Schwerzler presented Think Design. Think Motion. Think Blum. Michael and Christian spoke of the growing importance of design, the need and increasing consumer demand for not only an aesthetically pleasing kitchen, but importantly a functional kitchen.

“The release of TANDEMBOX intivo, SERVO-DRIVE for AVENTOS and CLIP top BLUMOTION is the largest product release for Blum Australia”, explained Blum National Sales and Marketing Manager, David Noakes. “These products are very important to our portfolio and we felt it was vital to give these products a big introduction to our market”.

The following day Blum provided a tour of their brand new high bay automated warehouse, one of only a few in Australia and inspirational new showroom complete with all the latest products at Len Waters Estate. A variety of workshops on a range of topics were offered including DYNAMIC SPACE, new products, product assembly and marketing material. Blum Australia staff presented both new and existing services and information which customers could potentially use in their businesses.

“The workshops on Saturday were great; a lot to take in. I was amazed at how well everything was set up, how smoothly it ran, always on time and we knew where we had to be. It was great to look in the history cabinet and see how the hinges, drawers and company have progressed. It makes you wonder what’s next”, said Dale Healy, owner of H & H Cabinets.

The weekend was brought to a close with a relaxing night on the harbour aboard the Blue Room where guests conversed and danced the night away with their new friends. David reflects, “Without question this weekend has been a huge success. We were very humbled by the customers who were able to make the commitment and give up their weekend to join us for Design in Motion. I couldn’t be more pleased with the result”.

Frank Iaria, Managing Director of Mint Kitchens commented, “It was an invaluable experience that we all enjoyed and honestly appreciated to be apart of it. It was a first class event all the way from the accommodation, the venues, entertainment and of course the warehouse tour”.

Blum Orga-Line Film and Foil Dispensers

Small accessories, massive effect

Blum are excited to welcome two new members to the ORGA-LINE kitchen accessories range. The ORGA-LINE film and foil dispensers are due for national release on 1st September, 2010. Blum’s new film and foil dispenser facilitates tangle free dispensing and a precise and efficient cut.

Blum’s new kitchen accessory is top in terms of functionality. What makes it so magic is a simple yet extremely important feature: the dispenser rod. Clingfilm without any creases are easily achieved by Blum’s film dispenser. After a clean sweep of the cutter the film is ready for use. After, the rod is reattached to the edge of the film then simply returned to the drawer.

Expect shining results with the ORGA-LINE foil dispenser. Now aluminium foil has a secure place: in the foil dispenser. It cuts quickly and easily, no tearing of the foil whatsoever. Both the film and foil dispenser can be used from the drawer or from the work top.

Blum Product Manager, Michelle Sung says, “The ORGA-LINE film and foil dispenser is a wonderful addition to the ORGA-LINE family. Our practical kitchen accessories make many kitchen tasks easier and provide unobtrusive organisation. It also looks beautiful”.

The new ORGA-LINE film and foil dispenser fits neatly into the ORGA-LINE internal dividing system without any gaps. Film and foils can be efficiently stored inside drawers meaning there is no need for wall mounting. Blum endeavour to make daily kitchen tasks easier, more comfortable and more ergonomic.

Good Kitchen Design

Good Kitchen Design

Ever thought about what is involved to achieve a good kitchen design? Is it all about the look or style of the kitchen? Is it related to functionality? Efficiency? There are a lot of factors that make up good kitchen design, so how would you design your dream kitchen?

The most fundamental aspects of good kitchen design would encompass the four following ideals;

1. The kitchen should be efficient
2. The kitchen should be functional
3. The kitchen should function safely
4. The kitchen should be aesthetically pleasing

The kitchen is the most widely used room in your home and is also the social hub of the household. It is also the most remodeled room in a home and usually the most expensive. It caters for the needs of the family and as such, good kitchen design should be of prime importance if you decide to remodel.

For the reasons just mentioned, it is very important that the design of the kitchen reflects your needs, tastes and imagination.

Good kitchen design is not just a rigid adherence to the four ideals that I have just described. Good kitchen design is the creation of the total look... where aesthetics and function are combined to create a certain feel or unity of effect. It is the glue that bonds all aspects of safety, functionality and style.
